 The Fentons have created a machine! A wonderful machine that will reveal a ghost’s true form! So that everyone will see their trickery! They’ll see that the monsters they really are! 

 Now, to know what all went wrong, one would have to know some things about the ghost zone, and more specifically the area the Fentons had managed to punch through to. 

 For one, ghosts do not age like humans. Oh they might take a form similar to that of their death, which may appear as an adult or teen or something similar, but with how they can only die by the complete destruction of their core, theoretically a ghost could live forever once formed. 

 In fact, the equivalent of eighteen years for a ghost was one-hundred realms-years dead. And those years don’t always sync up with the years of the living world that one might open a door into. Thankfully, the Fenton’s world, being one of those synced closer to the Realms, only had a time dilation of a few seconds. 

 That being said, the area their portal had ripped into was incredibly rich in ectoplasm. And areas like that, were where newborn ghosts were formed and arrived. A ghost daycare of sorts, almost akin to a toddler area of the zone. 

 Which meant that when they shoot the Phantom-menace and other pesky ghosts to revert them into their true form, it isn’t exactly monsters that appear. Instead, there are now several ghost toddlers- or in the phantom-trio’s case literal babies- flying around. Very unhappy ghost toddlers. 

 What a horrible time for the Justice League to arrive. Though perhaps some would say it was actually perfect timing.

Veliko Tarnovo Pottery

(12th - 15th Century)

Veliko Tarnovo, Bulgaria

There are three major schools of Bulgarian pottery (that have survived and are practiced in some form to this day) - pottery from Troyan, Veliko Tarnovo and Busintsi. The three styles of pottery are made using different techniques, forms and ornaments.

The pottery from Veliko Tarnovo uses a Sgraffito technique, which involves applying a thin layer of white clay, engraving designs on the dry surface of the clay, firing the design at a lower temperature, applying coloured or transparent glaze on top of the engravings, and re-firing the design at a higher temperature, resulting in a three dimensional design.

This style of pottery was typical of the Second Bulgarian Kingdom in the 12th to 14th century, and was made in Veliko Tarnovo, which was the Bulgarian capital at the time. It was used by the aristocracy of the time both for dining and for decoration.

Commonly used designs include plant, animal and human motifs as well as complex geometric patterns (some of which evoke solar imagery). The colours associated with this style of pottery are brown, yellow and green which all carry different symbolic meanings, with the brown originating from the natural colour of the clay, and the green and yellow coming from different pigments in the glaze.

Tarnovo style pottery is made to this day by artisans in the city. Nina Nesheva and her son, Dimitar Neshev, make designs which recreate the palette and style of the Tarnovo ceramics. Inspired by designs recovered from Tsarevets (the medieval stronghold overlooking Veliko Tarnovo) during archaeological investigations in the 70s, Nina Nesheva set out to create this style of ceramics, and has been creating works of art on the Samovodska Street in the Veliko Tarnovo historical district for more than thirty years. In their atelier "Chupi Kupi", you can see both modern examples of this pottery, as well as original shards of pottery provided by the Veliko Tarnovo Archaeological Museum (see the 4th photo above). It is also made in the city of Elena by local master Valentin Dimitrov.

First of all in the new fallen hero revelations demo, I absolutely love armadillo (I have said that I was looking forward to sidestep meeting other non-cuckoo regenes and this meeting already lived up to a lot of my expectations) (really excited to see how this plays out)

Second of all I think that little aside of how there are no gendered pronouns in the re-gene language and how only cuckoos learned to apply them is really interesting and funny (as well as another point in the murderbot-breq-sidestep compare and contrast schema in my head). Since it further emphasizes the connection between being seen as a person and performing gender correctly, but also it is a funny difference between the normal regenes and the cuckoo.

Like I think that it explains some of the complexes surrounding gender sidestep has. What if when training you were the only one getting comments like that really that kick wasn’t very ladylike or you need to start punching like a man. All the other regenes barely know what gender is and sidestep has to pass the weekly ‘Men and Women: What are They? And How To Behave and Interact Like One’ exam.

I remember back in elementary school, I used to read that Henry, and then that Beezus and Ramona series. And in one Ramona book, she writes to a local car dealership and tells them that they spelled cars wrong as ‘Kars’. And the owner writing back to tell her (nicely) that she’s absolutely correct, but it’s a sales tactic to attract attention.

By the time I read that book, I had already known that sort of thing, because while I was roughly the same age as Ramona, I grew up several decades after her, where such tactics were more common. But I thought it was funny and moved on.

Now I don’t like it. It was funny and cute at first but I’m tired of tiny meaningless product names that are just a sidestep away from being the object name, but cutesified in this way. ‘It’s literally on Poob’ type shit.

Do you guys ever think about how much chronic pain Gabriel Reyes is in that he describes it as agonizing and in ow2 is willing to let Moira experiment on him again if it means he'll be "normal" again which is a common ableist narrative able bodied people project onto the disabled and how it's supported in Gabriel's mind by there not being anyone who can take care of him or won't berate/use him when he shows weakness and has probably cried himself to sleep every time the pain gets so bad he can't even leave his bed to use the bathroom?
